The School Profile

Kwaku Panfo M /A Basic School was established in the year 1973 by Mr. Kofi Kaya Fiazorli, Mr. Sedo Kofi and Mr. Cataah who are Voltarians but settle permanently in Kwaku Panfo as commercial farmers.

Four years after the settlement, the enrollment increased such that the chief, Nii Kwaku Panfo I, gave them eight arches of land and also organized the community to build a mud house at the current location of the school.

The school shares premises with the Head teacher’s quarters bonded in the East by the main Hobor – Panfo road, bonded in the West by Mr. Sam Issah Quansah: the immediate past assembly man of Panfo electoral area. The school is strategically located at the center of the Panfo electoral area.

In 1987, the Government absorbed the school into the public school system. In 1990, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in collaboration with the Government of Ghana built a six unit classroom block for the school.

Two (2) new teachers were posted to the school – Mr. Kwashie Ababio and Mr. Lee Tei to beef up the strength of the staff. Later, Mr. Lee Tei became the first head teacher of the school in 1990.

In 1995, three classroom block with an office was constructed for the JHS while the KG1 and KG2 remain in an Agriculture office within the community.

In the year 2017, the school, under its current Head teacher Mr. Isaac Paintsil, Mr. Addo Joseph, Assistant Head teacher, Mr. Paul Lewis N.Y (Technical teacher) and the staff in collaboration with the then PTA and SMC chairman, Mr. Lankai Mark and Mr. Fiazorli respectively built a temporal structure for the KG1 and KG2. Finally, the KG department moved from the Agric-office to the main school compound in September 2018.

The community decided to name the school after Nii Kwaku Panfo I for the enormous support for the school, hence the name Kwaku Panfo became Kwaku Panfo M/A Basic School, which consist of KG, Primary and JHS.

Currently, the school has an enrollment of five hundred and twenty-four (524) learners of which two hundred and eighty-two (282) are boys and the remaining two hundred and forty-two (242) are girls.

The performance of BECE since then, though not the best but have seen a tremendous improvement over the years. The percentage of student pass is between 50% and 60%. Quite a good number of them had admission into the senior high schools throughout the country.

We provide child-freely environment combined with child centered teaching to produce pupils with Academic and Moral Excellence.

Student Profile

The pupils who attend the school are mostly from low income family groups. Their parents are mostly peasant farmers. Most of them are house helps or domestic assistants to their guardians they stayed with. The current student population is five hundred and twenty-four (524) made up of two hundred and eighty-two (282) boys and two hundred and forty-two (242) girls.

Leadership

The school is led by a head teacher and an assistant who has managed the school over the years. It also has an active PTA and SMC being supported by the Chief and Elders in the community.

Staffing

The school has the current staff population of 19 made up of thirteen (13) males and six (6) females. 100% of the staff are professional teachers with a wide range of teaching experiences ranging from three (3) to twenty (20) years.

The school administration has introduced a lot of interventions in its academic and financial plans (SPIP) to face out the challenges of the non-performing situation;

As a result of these, the pass rate in BECE results has increased by 30%.

Fortunately for the school, HELP 4 KIDS INTERNATIONAL came in to support the school to reduce some of the threats and challenges of the school.

They renovated the school by painting both the Kindergarten (KG), Primary and Junior High School (JHS) blocks, which made the school brighter and beautiful. The school environment is now clean and conducive for teaching and learning. Due to this, children who are at home and those who have dropped out of school have now return to school.

HELP 4 KIDS INTERNATIONAL also brought cloths to the school children to make them look good. They also donated a dustbins to the school to help solve sanitation problems.

Now Kwaku Panfo M/A Basic School is now shining and all thanks to HELP 4 KIDS INTERNATIONAL.
